I've looked in the Supermarket and most of there shampoo's and conditioners have alcohol in them (which is not good for your hair). So if you know of any brands that don't use alcohol as one of there ingredients please post them, oh and i'm willing to go to a salon to get the shampoo so don't say ';just get salon shampoo and condtioner products'; I don't mind if you can only find the product in salons but please list the name brand. Can you list some shampoos or conditioners that don't have alcohol in them?
Sally Beauty Supply carries a brand called Manage Damage that is alcohol free. Just because a shampoo or conditioner has alcohol in it does not mean it will damage your hair. There are lots of different types of alcohol.

The term alcohol refers to several different forms of the ingredient. Alcohol is defined as a colorless volatile liquid obtained by distillation, either by the fermenting of carbohydrates (grains, potatoes) or hydration of ethylene. The fermenting of carbohydrates produces natural grain alcohol. The hydration of ethylene produces synthetic alcohols or SD alcohol. There are over 40 different types of alcohols in use today. Many forms of alcohol will have a drying effect on the hair or skin. While synthetic forms of alcohols may be drying to the hair or skin due to how they are produced, some forms are not considered drying. A synthetic alcohol is more abrasive toward the skin and hair because it is not made for topical application. More abrasive forms of synthetic alcohol may be needed for usage on machines, sterilization, or household cleansers. These are not the types of alcohols you would want to use on your hair and skin.

The types of alcohols used in conditioners are NOT the kind that dry your hair.

Ethanol (the kind of alcohol in beer, wine, and cocktails) is a short carbon chain alcohol (only 2 carbon atoms) that is a good solvent and can remove the natural oils from your hair. Some hairsprays use this kind of alcohol (as a solvent for styling resins).

Conditioners use cetyl or stearyl alcohols which are long carbon chain ';fatty'; alcohols (16 or 18 carbon atoms). These fatty alcohols are not drying at all, in fact, their good moisturizers for hair and skin. Can you list some shampoos or conditioners that don't have alcohol in them?
